ALKIONIDES CELEBRATES 20 YEARS!

Dear supporters thank you for helping us throughout the years!

This year we are celebrating 20 years since the registration of Alkionides in Cyprus and 10 years since our registration with the Charity Commission in the UK. We have proved that genuine volunteerism is a big part of civil society.

Romanian Barbeque for a Cause

Dear all,

I would like to let you know that we are holding a "Romanian Barbeque for a Cause" on Sunday the 11th of September in Oxford, UK to raise money for two charities: one local charity in Oxford (The Gatehouse), and an orphanage one in Romania (managed by FARA).

My team’s target is £6,000 and I kindly ask your help to reach it by donating and/or taking part at the event. I know it is not much, but it is all we can do at the moment.

To purchase a ticket please contact Gabriela Campan (campan.gabriela@yahoo.com) or myself. And whether or not you can attend, please donate on our justgiving page, and also share the justgivingpage with your friends or all the people you know (as I did):

Romanian Barbeque for a Cause

The Gatehouse is a wonderful charity in Oxford UK that provides free meals for homeless people every evening of the week.

FARA is a large charity, however they need our help with a small family orphanage home in Suceava, in the northeast of Romania. The home cares for 10 children and requires expanding, and they are planning to build a small room away from the main building where the children can get together for activities together with others from the local community (helping them to feel integrated). They are also making a child-friendly garden. The money you donate here will go to this project, and we will put before/after photos here on the page.

We will also have another event close to the end of year. I know it is almost nothing, but we are doing our best and we hope we will increase our target and do more for the people in need.

Please join us to know us better and to enjoy Romanian traditional food, dancing and see us wearing our Romanian national costumes!

The event is organised by St John Cassian Romanian Orthodox Church in Oxford&Reading having Father Gavriil Marin’s blessing.

Thank you very much!
Ramona Iosif
